Qualifying for Smartphone Equality

Gather all the necessary information

 

Smartphone Equality is our way of rewarding loyal Metro by T-Mobile customers. To qualify:

  1. Pay your bill on time for 12 consecutive months to qualify for great deals on new phones and tablets with T-Mobile. Make sure to setup AutoPay so you never miss a payment. 
  2. Once you have completed 12 consecutive months of on-time payments, skip the credit check for T-Mobile service.
  3. Get your Metro by T-Mobile account details ready to qualify for $0 down on some of our top 5G smartphones when you switch to T-Mobile.

Getting Ready

Smartphone Equality Checklist

 

Get Your Port-Out PIN:

  • Log in to My Account.
  • Select Profile Settings > Line Settings > Request a Transfer PIN.
  • You will need to verify your identity with the One Time Pin (OTP) 6-digit code sent via text. Keep the OTP and provide it to Customer Care when you are ready to migrate your number.

 

Find Your Metro by T-Mobile Account Number:

  • Log in to the My Metro app or visit metrobyt-mobile.com.
  • Select Account > Account Options > Account History > Review Balance & Statements > Download Statements
  • Your account Number will be listed at the top of the downloaded Statement
  • Can't visit your local store? Dial 1-833-796-6246.

 

Order your device:

  • Visit your local T-Mobile or Metro by T-Mobile store to start your order.
  • Bringing your own device (BYOD) see the "Finish Migration" section.

 

Check Your Email:

  • Once you've placed a new device order with T-Mobile be sure to sign your Equipment Installment Plan (EIP) within 48 hours when applicable.
  • Look out for order confirmation, shipping, and welcome emails with your new temporary number.

Migrating Your Existing Phone Number:

  • Power on your new device and follow the setup instructions.
  • You can access your temporary number with T-Mobile by entering #686# and pressing Call from your new device. T-Mobile will need the temporary number to pull up your T-Mobile account when transferring your Metro number to T-Mobile.
  • Dial 1-877-789-3106 to transfer your Metro number to your T-Mobile phone.
    • Please have your Metro account number and port-out PIN ready.

 

Using your own Metro Device with a new SIM Card:

  • Dial 1-877-789-3106 to port your number when you receive your new SIM card.
    • Provide your Metro account number and port-out PIN. See the "Getting Ready" section.
  • Insert the new SIM card and power cycle your device to auto-activate.
